About custom cut lab grown diamonds

Because lab diamond rough is grown to order, it can be cut to order — which unlocks what mined inventory can't: portrait cuts, kites, hexagons, exact length-to-width ratios, and faithful revivals of antique cuts like the old European and old mine.

Aurelle custom cut lab grown diamonds are commissioned through our concierge: we develop a cutting plan to your specification, you approve it, and the finished stone — certified by IGI or GCAL — arrives in 6–10 weeks, ready to set in any design.

Bring us a shape that doesn't exist yet; that's the point.

Custom Cut Lab Grown Diamonds FAQ

What is a custom cut diamond?+

It's a diamond faceted to your specification rather than chosen from standard inventory — an unusual shape, an exact ratio, a revived antique cut, or a proportion tuned for a specific setting. Lab-grown rough makes this practical because the starting material is produced to suit the plan.

Why are custom cuts mostly done with lab-grown diamonds?+

Cutting an unusual shape from mined rough means gambling scarce material; lab rough is grown in the size and quality the cutting plan needs, so ambitious shapes become economical. The finished stone is a true diamond, identical in composition and hardness to mined.

What shapes can be commissioned?+

Essentially anything faceted: kites, hexagons, shields, portrait (flat, window-like) cuts, elongated versions of standard shapes, and antique revivals like old European, old mine, and rose cuts. If you can sketch it or name it, we can develop a cutting plan for it.

How long does a custom cut diamond take?+

Plan on 6–10 weeks from approval of the cutting plan, covering growth, cutting, and certification — plus 2–3 weeks if we're also making the setting. Tell the concierge your date and we'll map the timeline before you commit.

How much does a custom cut lab diamond cost?+

Generally comparable to premium standard lab-grown stones of the same carat and quality, with a commissioning premium for the bespoke cutting work. It remains far below natural-diamond pricing — the custom element buys uniqueness, not a natural-market price tag.

Are custom cut diamonds certified?+

Yes — each commissioned stone is graded by IGI or GCAL, documenting its carat, color, clarity, and lab-grown origin. Unusual shapes are graded like any fancy shape, with full measurements on the report.
