A matching wedding ring should sit flush against your engagement ring — no gap of daylight, no rubbing, metals and proportions in agreement. That's a matter of matching the band's contour to the setting: straight bands for solitaires and bezels, curved or notched bands for halos and low-set stones.

Does my wedding band have to match my engagement ring?+
It doesn't have to — deliberate contrast, like mixed metals or a diamond band against a plain solitaire, is a popular modern look. Matching matters most physically: the band should sit flush against the ring without a gap or friction.
How do I know if I need a curved wedding band?+
Look at your engagement ring's profile from the side. If the center stone or halo sits low over the band, a straight band will collide with it and you'll want a curved or notched contour; high-set solitaires usually pair cleanly with straight bands.
Should my wedding band be the same metal as my engagement ring?+
Same-metal pairs age identically and read as one set, which most brides prefer. Mixing metals is entirely wearable too — just know white gold needs periodic rhodium refreshing while platinum and yellow gold do not.
Can you match a band to an engagement ring you didn't make?+
Yes — this is one of the most common concierge requests. Send photos and measurements of your ring and we'll recommend a stock contour or custom-shape a band to nest against it precisely.
How much should a wedding band cost compared to the engagement ring?+
There's no rule — plain gold bands often run a few hundred dollars, diamond and eternity bands from around a thousand up. Most couples spend a modest fraction of the engagement ring's price on the band.
Do matching bands come in the same size as the engagement ring?+
Usually yes, though a wide band can wear a half size snugger than a thin ring. We size each band to your hand, and gold and platinum bands carry free lifetime resizing if anything changes.
