Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?+
Yes. The FTC, GIA, and IGI all classify them as diamonds — identical chemical composition (pure carbon), crystal structure, and optical properties. Only isotope-level testing distinguishes them.
Do lab-grown diamonds hold value?+
Their resale market is younger and prices have declined as production scales. Buy one for its beauty and the carat-for-carat savings, not as a financial asset — the same practical advice we give for mined stones.
How are they certified?+
The same way: independent labs (chiefly IGI and GCAL, increasingly GIA) grade cut, color, clarity, and carat, and laser-inscribe the girdle with the report number.
